Look at that GOOZER!!!

One morning, earlier this week, Joe was staring out the kitchen window. All of the sudden he said excitedly, "WOAH, Look at that GOOZER!" My mind jumped into trying to figure out what he was talking about. At first, I thought it was going to be a family of geese flying by. Then I looked out and saw:

It hit me. I said, "Ohhh, you mean the geyser?" He said, "Yeah, I didn't know we had those so close to home!" I just had to smile at his amazement and let it go. lol

"My Fingers Need Medicine"

Joe is taking an adventure we've all taken, about his age. He's learning to snap! He decided one day that he wanted that skill, and he is not giving up until he's gotten it just right!  The only problem is, his fingers are getting sore. Ha ha ha He's walking around the house either trying to snap, or shaking his hand to make the pain go away! He said, "Mama, my fingers need medicine!" So Cute!

He said, "I put my pit on you." :)

Middle Hand...

Each morning, I make the boys their chocolate milk. As I'm walking up, they look at the cups and call out as to which one they want. This morning, Matthew couldn't think of the word for the cup he wanted. He said, "that one." I looked at him confused, so he said, "I want the one in your middle hand." Those moments where they remind me how little they are, make my heart smile. =)

Where does he come UP with it??

Dada has been out of town for work this week, so the boys and I have LOVED doing Skype with him! We get our digital camera all ready, get our two chairs set up to share, and call him up on the computer. While we were using the webcam, we found out there is a setting to make funny faces and different effects on the pictures. First, we did this:

We were laughing together SO HARD... I think we each had a bout of the snorts! ha ha ha 

Then, we tried out a new setting and got this:

To which Joe said, "Hey look, there's me in the 40's!"... I just couldn't help it, I cracked up. WHERE IN THE WORLD DOES HE COME UP WITH THESE THINGS???

It was sure fun finding something to make us just hurt with laughter!!

Oh my sweet boys...

Today has been kind of "a day" for me. We've had rain this week and it's been cold, and if I'm honest, I haven't come up with enough things to entertain my boys. They have boy style energy and I have not given them a constructive outlet to get it out. So, they get in trouble, and I get upset and it's an icky cycle.

Tonight, I decided to put an end to the cycle. I packed us up in the car and we drove to Walmart to walk around. We had some great conversations in the car about feelings, disappointment and letting them know they can tell me if I hurt their feelings. They just told me I'm a great Mama and I'm cute (which was SHOCKING after my recent Mama behavior! lol).

We bought a $5 movie... They were SO EXCITED to watch it. When we drove home, I told them to run upstairs and get their jammies on, and then we'd have some family time on the couch watching the movie. Well, as I was cleaning up downstairs, things just didn't sound quite right upstairs. So, I made the journey up those stairs to find havoc:

Joe had pretended to pee on Matthew's bed.... so, Matthew really DID pee on a toy of Joe's that was in his room. Joe got upset at this and spit on Matthew's face... neither of them had their jammies on.

WOW

So, the family time is denied... They both got spankins and had to spend time alone in their rooms and feel the ouch of knowing their actions cost them their movie time with Mama (Dada is out of town for work).

So, after cleaning the pee... I am in my office for a few minutes of breathing before I go back upstairs! ha ha ha  I've decided I am going to go into Joe's room, call Matthew in there and read them a book and put them to bed. I don't know that I've been the greatest at showing forgiveness/grace once the "moment" is over, and the discipline has been given... I don't keep bringing things up, but I don't make a distinct "You're forgiven" line either. So, tonight I am going to share with them that I'm sorry we had to lose our movie time and I was really looking forward to it...but we'll have a book together and we can start again in the morning.

This isn't a "funny" blog really... but, I just didn't want to forget this whole pee and spit episode... I know I will want to bring it back up sometime far down the road! ;)

We Prayed, He answered and Joe said, "Duh!"

Last night, as I tucked the boys into bed... we prayed, as we do every night. I confessed to the boys that I was not looking forward to going to church in the rain with them, and we prayed that the Lord would give us blue skies to go love Him with our friends.

This morning, we woke up to the most beautiful blue sky with puffy white joyful clouds and the sun just twinkling on all the left over drops of water.

I came downstairs, after getting ready for church, and said, "Look Joe, it's not raining!"  He looked at me and said, "Well, you did pray about that, didn't you?"... It was said with a tinge of "duh" in his tone.  I wasn't even to church yet, but I just heard a full sermon in a sentence from my 6 year old boy!

Joe, when you're older, if you ever see this... hold on to THAT faith! When we pray, and believe, and it's according to the Lord's will... IT WILL BE DONE!! Mama needed that, "Duh" from you this morning to be reminded myself. The world can try to steal that knowing, that deep gut awareness of the Lord's greatness in our lives and around our lives. DO NOT let that faith slip from your awareness because it is a strength about you and I am proud to see it growing in the core of who you are. I love you son, and I'm so proud to be your Mama!

This was actually taken yesterday, this morning there were even less clouds...but Joe and I loved this big white puffy one!

A new found LOVE!

OH MY GOODNESS! I'm on a quest for falling in love with "healthy" things, so I'm trying new recipes.  I found a recipe for "Creamy Avocado Dressing" and then toasted a piece of whole wheat bread, spread the dressing on it, sliced tomato, and sliced onion... I'm telling you, IT IS GOOD!  I know a lot of people who would love a new fun healthy snack, so I just thought I'd post it!  Here is the recipe for the Creamy Avocado Dressing!: 2 Ripe Avocados, chopped and pitted 2 Spring Onions, finely chopped (I wasn't sure what that was, but used scallion onions) 1 clove garlic, minced water sprinkle of sea salt sweet lime juice 1/2 teaspoon cider vinegar*Optional (I did not use it, but they said it would make it tangier) Prep: Chop up onions, garlic and avocado. Place in blender, then add lime juice, add water until desired creaminess, sprinkle in sea salt and any other spices you may like... Viola! They listed it as a simple dressing for salad... but, I didn't feel like making a salad, so I used it for something else... and I'M HAPPY I did! Enjoy!
